چکیده

This study used the standardized precipitation index (SPI) and runoff (SRI) to analyze dry humid conditions in hill-country catchment area of Laborec River (Slovakia) over a period 50 years (1970–2019). Analysis SPI SRI various time scales showed occurrence wet periods (index > 1.0) that were associated with exceeding long-term norm, below −1.0), which result small amounts precipitation. correlation between on different revealed weaker response short (1 3 months) stronger longer accumulation (6, 9, 12 months). The highest annual coefficient (r = 0.72) was recorded SRI-6 at Humenne hydrometric station SPI-9 Medzilaborce meteorological upper part area. strongest 0.69) obtained Izkovce Kamenica stations lower As shown by cross-relationships examined flows precipitation, hydrological droughts appeared as three-month delay. conducted analysis case river area, there strong drought drought.

investigation of meteorological and hydrological drought using drought indices in qarehsou river basin

water crisis and drought are among the most important issues to which the human has been faced particularly in the recent years; hence, investigation of drought is so important in optimal water management. drought has been known as an environmental phenomenon which is inseparable from climate changes which can occur in any geographical region. various definitions have been presented since yet. ...

Extreme Weather Events, Mortality and Migration

We estimate the effect of extreme weather on life expectancy in the US. Using high frequency mortality data, we find that both extreme heat and extreme cold result in immediate increases in mortality. However, the increase in mortality following extreme heat appears entirely driven by near-term displacement, while the increase in mortality following extreme cold is long lasting. The aggregate e...

Extreme weather events and infectious disease outbreaks

Human-driven climatic changes will fundamentally influence patterns of human health, including infectious disease clusters and epidemics following extreme weather events. Extreme weather events are projected to increase further with the advance of human-driven climate change. Both recent and historical experiences indicate that infectious disease outbreaks very often follow extreme weather even...
